Online graduate programs remain among the best in nation according to U.S. News and World Report

The online graduate education programs offered by the University of Delaware College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) remain among the best in the nation according to U.S. News and World Report’s 2025 rankings. Housed within CEHD’s School of Education (SOE), the online graduate programs are now ranked 20 out of 315 programs, placing again in the top 6% of all online graduate programs in education.

“I’m proud that our College is once again placed within the 20 top graduate schools of education across the nation,” said Rena Hallam, interim dean of CEHD and professor in CEHD’s Department of Human Development and Family Sciences. “Our faculty are dedicated to providing an engaging, flexible online learning environment while offering our students research-informed, high-quality curricula in educational technology, literacy and teacher leadership. We are proud to support literacy specialists, educational technology specialists and teacher leaders throughout Delaware and across the nation through our programs.”

CEHD offers three online master’s degrees in educational technology, literacy and teacher leadership. Full-time faculty renowned for both teaching and research designed the curriculum to meet the needs of aspiring educational professionals and certified teachers. Courses run for five, seven or 14 weeks, depending on the program.

Students and alumni of CEHD’s online programs consistently praise the flexible and engaging format, strong relationships with faculty and real-world curricula, often immediately applicable to their educational contexts.

“Coming from a healthcare background, I was initially nervous about transitioning into education-focused coursework, but the educational technology program has courses with such clear, organized structure and excellent resources that I’ve been able to navigate the material confidently,” said Stefanie Hansen, laboratory education coordinator in UD’s Department of Medical and Molecular Sciences and a student in the online educational technology program. “CEHD’s program has gone above and beyond my expectations. I’ve applied many of the concepts and educational technologies directly to the laboratory courses I teach at UD. Students have responded positively to the new interactive components, which have enhanced their engagement and learning experience.”

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the literacy program at the University of Delaware,” said Lauren Ashley, an English instructor at Sussex Technical High School in Georgetown, Delaware, and a student in the online literacy program. “I have been able to implement so much of what I am learning in my grad classes in my own teaching. Not only do I have a better understanding of literacy, but I am seeing positive changes in my students. I am excited to see what the rest of the program has in store for me!”
