In several news outlet articles, Lauren Bailes, associate professor in the College of Education and Human Development’s School of Education, and co-author Sarah Guthery shared the results of their study on the impact of policy change in teacher licensing requirements. In their study, they found that lowered teaching requirements in Texas led to more hiring, but teachers began positions with lower starting salaries.
