I Heart UD Giving Day is an opportunity for the UD community to collectively support faculty, staff and student-led causes, programs and initiatives that matter most to them. Join the College of Education & Human Development (CEHD) community in supporting the Center for Disabilities Studies, Center for Research in Education and Social Policy, The College School, Dean’s Diversity in Education Scholarship, Lab School, New Directions Early Head Start and Teachers of Tomorrow Program.
CEHD appreciates your gifts to these important initiatives, as they will enhance the Blue Hen experience for our current and prospective students at the College, and beyond.
CEHD Dean’s Diversity in Education Scholarship
Help a student from an underrepresented background in the field of education pursue a degree in elementary teacher education or early childhood education. The cost of a college education can be daunting for students from underrepresented backgrounds, especially first-generation college students. These scholarships ensure access to our high-quality teacher education programs, while easing the financial burden of pursuing a college education.
Thanks to the generosity of Gary Henry, dean of the College of Education & Human Development, every gift to the Dean’s Diversity in Education Scholarship will be matched 1:1 up to $1,000.
Center for Equity & Excellence in Teacher Preparation: Teachers of Tomorrow Program
The Teachers of Tomorrow Program, offered through UD’s Center for Excellence and Equity in Teacher Preparation, provides rising high school juniors and seniors from underrepresented backgrounds an introduction to the field of education while giving them the skills necessary to succeed in college.
Center for Disabilities Studies: Leadership Development for UD Students with Intellectual Disabilities
Donations will help UD’s Career & Life Studies Certificate students participate in acclaimed conferences and leadership-building events that promote equity, advocacy and social justice. UD’s Center for Disability Studies administers this inclusive and empowering program.
Center for Research in Education and Social Policy: Undergraduate Researcher Travel Funds
Help the Center for Research in Education and Social Policy (CRESP) provide travel funding so our undergraduate researchers can attend events with our staff to help disseminate findings. Our undergraduate researchers are key members of our team here at CRESP, but often, due to funding constraints, are unable to attend events that offer the opportunity to share their findings with other researchers or practitioners.
The College School: Art Displays to Promote Independence and Critical Thinking
Lab School: A Bird’s Eye View- Nature Photography, Stewardship and Conservation with Children and Undergrads
Help the Lab School add “Bird Buddy” feeders to their learning environments to be able to notify them of bird visitors, capture photos and identify species. With your help, they will be able to extend and enrich their bird activities with their students. Children, undergraduate students and teaching staff will be able to experience birds in our area in a new, up close and exciting way that can be impossible to observe otherwise.
New Directions Early Head Start: Supporting Teachers and Early Childhood Education Staff
You can help support those who work the hardest, to educate the littlest students. We are collecting donations to uplift early childhood education workers at New Directions Early Head Start. These hard-working professionals tirelessly care for some of the most vulnerable children and families in New Castle and Kent Counties. Help us give a small token of appreciation for all that they do!
